U.M. Mission Leaders Confer on Global Volunteer Approach

 Mission representatives from all United Methodist Jurisdictions met from July 30- August 2  to provide feedback designed to help formulate improved recruitment of long-term (2 months-2 years) Mission Volunteers and Global Justice Volunteers ages 18-30 (2-3 months) for placement world-wide.

The meeting was convened by Una Jones, Assistant General Secretary, Mission Volunteers and Malcolm Frazier, Executive Secretary, Mission Volunteers.

The work sessions were facilitated by Kathleen Masters, Executive Secretary CCW.  The group heard from veterans of various global mission experiences including two young adults, Holley Hooks and Rashid Hughes, who had just completed Global Justice Volunteer assignments.

The meeting concluded with a worship service with a stirring sermon delivered by George Howard charging attendees to become "Mission Advocates" to recruit others to these programs.
